It’s Okay To Want To Be Loved!
As a minister, I have the privilege of getting to meet & talk to lots & lots & lots of people & the one thing most of them have in common is that they all want to love & be loved. And that’s okay! There is nothing wrong with wanting that. For many reasons people have a hard time admitting that without sounding desperate. It took me a while to understand why. It seems that being honest about wanting to be loved makes people feel & appear to be weak or vulnerable. In addition, it also makes them look at themselves in a negative way if they don’t have the love they want; kinda like they are defective in some way. So they bottle the … Continue reading

Are You The Only Jesus Some People Ever See?
Did you know that you may be the only Jesus some people ever get to see & meet?
Think about the numerous lives that your life intercepts on a daily basis. The guy at the gas station; the lady at the bus stop; the neighbors you stop to chat with, the person in the checkout line at various stores, etc. At all of these encounters you have an opportunity to introduce “Jesus” to all of them. I’m not talking about being a track & bible thumper (nothing wrong with that) but I’m referring to how you respond & treat people & the things you say to them in the moment. This is your chance to bring a real life Jesus to their lives in a practical … Continue reading

It’s Almost Over!
It’s almost over! I know you’re wondering what I’m talking about so I’m going to explain (smile).
The first thing that’s almost over is the month of August. Just in case you didn’t know, my birthday is in August & I celebrate the entire month! So I’m a little sad that the party is almost over & I don’t want the party to end. I love celebrating birthday’s with people & I love celebrating my birthday most of all. Check out some pictures from my 80’s themed birthday party!

The second thing that’s almost over is the summer! I love warm weather & not having to wear layers of clothes! I love being outdoors & doing outdoor stuff, like going to the beach with my boogie … Continue reading

ALC’s Life Group #3 – Doing Real Life Together (True Friendship)!
Authentic Life Church’s (ALC) Life Group #3 continues to do real life together! I just wanted to give you an update on what’s going on in our life group. We’re in our 2nd session of meetings and we are moving along strong.
We’ve shared a lot of life in these last couple of months, walking with each other through everything that could happen to a person. Satan has tried many things to keep us from meeting, but just the opposite has happened. Even though our group is relatively new, we have really grown a strong bond that continues to be tested. We’ve gone into hell with some of our members to take back their health. Other members have had to bury family members while many have … Continue reading

The Grass is NOT Greener on the Other Side!
Why is it that people think that the grass is greener in someone else’s backyard? Why is it when people peer & peek into someone else’s life, they think that person’s life has something that they don’t have & can’t get? Why do we even desire to be a voyeur into someone else’s business? Could it be that green-eyed monster at work?
We see this behavior all the time in our own lives, but we are probably more willing to admit that we see it in the lives of others. People seem to like comparing themselves to their perception of someone else. The demon involved does a good job at getting us to view the lives of others as better than we view our own life. … Continue reading

Outrageous Blessings! Want Some?
When you hear the words “outrageous blessings” what comes to your mind? I know as Christians, when people ask us how we are we frequently respond “I’m Blessed”, but what do you really mean by that? Most people simply mean that the basic things in their life are covered. Things like good health, they have a job, they have a home or a place to live, their families are well, etc. So what does being “outrageously blessed” look like?
The first time I heard that phrase was on Dr.Stacia Pierce’s promo when she was coming to speak at our church. When I heard her say those words “outrageous blessings” and that we should be living a life full of it, it rocked my soul! It moved … Continue reading

Laugh It Up! – It’s More Important Than Your Think!
How much do you laugh? Did you know you can use laughter as a weapon? I know you’re wondering how & why, so let’s talk about it.
The answer to the above questions can be found in the bible where God instructs us to focus on positive things in Philippians 4:8 (amp); For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them]. God tells us to do that because He knows that whatever you are focusing on will grow in our spiritual eyes. Haven’t you noticed that when … Continue reading

Everyday Won’t Be Sunny!
Everyday won’t be sunny! We all know that, but if you’ve had a string of days that aren’t sunny & bright it can be depressing. So what do you do when you wake up with what I call the “blahs”? What do you do when you just can’t shake the dark cloud hanging over your head?
I woke up like that a few days ago. God is taking my life in a whole new direction that I never could have planned. So this year and a half has been full of various changes and new things. Some of the changes have been great and some have not been fun at all. On top of that, days before this I got some news that was very disappointing! … Continue reading

God Loves You – Yes You!
God loves you, yes you! I know we hear that a lot as Christians but do we live our lives like we believe it?
Let’s toss this idea around a bit. When you meet someone your interested in doesn’t it change your behavior? You try to run into them more, you dress better when you think you’re going to see them and once you meet them you rearrange your life’s calendar to fit them in, right? All of this makes you happier as you ponder all the possibilities. Doesn’t this put pep in your step? But did you do all of these things when you first meet God? Remember when you first got saved and you loved the idea and you loved going to church? But … Continue reading

Grateful on Memorial Day!
This is the Memorial Day holiday weekend, so as I sit back eating BBQ, I started to reflect and it brings be to place or state of being grateful. This is the time set aside to remember and give honor to the soldiers for all they have done to ensure our freedoms and liberties. I am so grateful for them and all they do, and the price they pay to do it. I pray for them daily. Going into the armed services is surely nothing I would do, but I truly appreciate those who have.
Being grateful always brings me back to God and all that He’s done for me and continues to do. However, I find that it’s a state of being I have to … Continue reading

Pharrell is Happy – How bout you?
As I think about Pharrell’s ” Happy” song and the popularity of this song – I know you’ve heard it so much by now that you’re singing and dancing along. (smile) I know I am singing and dancing to it and I know most of the chorus by heart. I liked the music and beat from the first day I heard it, but they play the “happy” song everywhere I go and I was beginning to get tired of hearing it. So as I was driving and the “happy” song played on the radio once again. I listened closely to the words and realized that the concept was really simple, yet powerful!
Pharrell tells us over and over that he’s “happy”, then Pharrell tells us how … Continue reading

POWER & Life Group 3
If you don’t already belong to a “Life Group”, then you should try to find a good one. Ask God and He’ll direct you to one. We would love for you to try ours to get a firsthand feel for what it’s all about. It’s the quickest way to connect with people who believe and want the same things as you do.
Churches use life or cell groups in order to stay connected to its congregation; to effectively know what’s going on with its members so that they can serve them more efficiently. For example, let’s say someone needs food, but doesn’t really know anyone at the church and they find their situation embarrassing and are fearful of speaking out. By the time someone finds out, … Continue reading

Hang On! – Don’t Give Up, Never Give Up!
Have you ever had days when the attacks come so hard that you feel like you’re being kicked in the teeth or punched in the stomach so hard that the breath is knocked out of you and you can’t breathe?
As Christians, we all know that Satan attacks all of us, but there are times that bring overbearing pressure that’s so heavy it feels like we will break into pieces; you feel like you can’t take it anymore. That’s how last week was for me. I felt like I was hanging on for dear life!So what do you do when you find yourself in that position or in that place? Over the last 15 plus years, God has taught me many things about being and operating … Continue reading

ALC Life Groups Rocks!
[metaslider id=”260″]
Last Tuesday night (March 11th) was our first Authentic Life Church’s (ALC) Life Group meeting! Yeah!
We launched 4 separate meetings across the city in various locations. Our church is only 5 months old and it’s amazing to see how it’s growing! Our God is faithful. Our meeting was held in a room the church rented at a CDC facility in our community. But, what’s a Life Group? A Life Group is a small group of people who gather regularly to support each other and enjoy common interests. They are known by various names: Growth groups, Connect Groups, Core Groups, Cell Groups, Home Groups or Fellowship Groups. You may know them by one of those names.
Christian Churches use these groups to not only teach the … Continue reading

Son of God! – The Movie
Go see this movie! I know you’ve seen Jesus movies before, and I know you know the story, but this time it’s being told by members of our kingdom family. So we need to support that so we can continue to tell the stories God wants us to tell and the world needs to see.
I saw this movie a week ago with my Authentic Life Church (ALC) family and we really enjoyed seeing it with each other. However, I really don’t like watching the crucifixion scenes because I get angry when they torture Jesus, but so grateful at His resurrection. It’s a big emotional ride for me! This time was no different with one exception. During the crucifixion scenes, I asked God if I could … Continue reading -
I Prayed, But It Didn’t Happen The Way I Wanted!
I went to a funeral or a home going service this week. The deceased person was a woman of God who was attacked with some type of disease in her body and succumbed to it. But how could this be if she was believing God would heal her? Doesn’t the Word promise us healing if we only believe?
I went with a lot of questions. Why didn’t God heal her? Was she believing to be healed until the day she died? What happens to our faith in situations like this? The service was at her church and from its reputation, is a good bible teaching church, so what happened?
During the service I learned from those speaking that she had been believing God to be healed, but … Continue reading
