Why Should I Go To Church?
Why should you go to church? People go to church for many reasons. Some go because their parents or grandparents made them go and took them to church as kids, so now going to church has just become a habit. They know most of the people that attend their church and it’s become a place just to hang out. Some people go to church to fulfill some religious obligation that they think will satisfy God, other people, themselves, parents, etc. Some people go to church to fulfill or relieve a sense of guilt; they sin all week and want to make it right on Sunday! Some people go to church for its feel-good features – the music sounds good, or you like the charisma of the Pastor or the Preacher, and it makes you feel good about yourself, if only for a minute, and gives you hope to press on at least for the moment. Where do you find yourself? Do you find yourself somewhere in there?
There are many reasons why people go to church, and if you don’t go or find yourself in the list above, then here are some substantial reasons why you should go. Okay, okay, I get it! You work five days a week and you have to get up early to do it and you just want to chill and hang out and do fun stuff on the weekends, but now I’m asking you to get up early on Sunday to go to church. I’m not a morning person so I do get it. On Saturdays you have to run errands and do chores so when are you ever gonna get the rest? When are you going to do what you want to do? I get it, I went through the same thing. However, I have since learned that there are some things you have to do for yourself to enhance your life and all of its parts to make it better. So I had to became very good at time management.
Now for those of you who already go to church, that’s great, but how did you choose that church and how’s it working for you? Prayerfully you’ll understand what I’m about to say. Whether you go to church or not, keep these things in mind when making that decision about going to church, where to go to church and whether to stay in your current church. Yes, where you go to church does matter and here’s why:
- The main reason you should go to church is because God said so in Hebrews 10:25; Some people have gotten out of the habit of meeting for worship, but we must not do that. We should keep on encouraging each other, especially since you know that the day of the Lord’s coming is getting closer. When you get together in church you bring your gifts and talents and so does everyone else. These resources can then be shared among each other. You are much stronger together than apart.
- Another reason why you should go to church is because in church you should get assistance in developing your personal relationship with God. You should learn how God operates, learn how to get to know Him & hear Him. You should also learn the reasons God sent you to earth.
- Attending church regularly should put you in touch with people who are just like you. People who should be trying to get to know God, enjoying his company, and learning how important the act of being a spiritual person or a spirit lead person is. There is power in unity according to Matthew 18:19-20; I promise that when any two of you on earth agree about something you are praying for, my Father in heaven will do it for you. 20 Whenever two or three of you come together in my name,[a] I am there with you.
Factors in Choosing the Right Church
Like I said before it does matter very much what church you go to. Many people go to what we call it their “Family Church”; that’s the church that their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins have always gone to. But in order to meet the objectives that I’ve listed above, you need to look out for the following things:
- Only God can tell you what church you need to attend. Only He knows where He placed the resources that you need for your growth and development in the things of God in order to fulfill your divine assignment on this planet. As much as it may pain you, your grandmama don’t know.
- Take time to check out the Pastor. Is he living what he’s preaching?
- Is the church teaching the Word of God directly from the Bible or is it some type of filtered interpretation? That means you must first be studying the word so that you know the difference. Never take someone else’s interpretation for something you can find out on your own or for yourself. But you must be willing to do the work.
- How are you treated when you walk through the doors? Are strangers treated and greeted as warmly as the members? How are unsaved people treated? How are people who look different treated?
- Watch leadership – check out the character of the church leaders. How do they treat people when they think no one is watching? Do they seem phony and fake? Getting the answer to these questions will take time, so don’t be in a hurry to join and don’t allow yourself to be pressured by others to join either. Read what Paul has to say in 1 Tim 3.
- Freedom of Worship – are people free to express their worship to God in the manner they see fit? Are there different kinds of worship? Or is conformity the only form of worship?
- Are there systems and ministries in place to support your daily everyday life and your spiritual growth and development?
- Holiness – has this church set the standard of living based on the word of God or has it been set by man? Living right is living according to God and that has to be the standard and goal of all the people in the church. No one is perfect, but the church standard has to be holy living as outlined by God. The church is where you begin to learn what these standards are and should support your life as you work to meet these standards. There should be things in place to support and demand this holy living standard. This has to be tempered with grace, mercy and compassion – not religious judgment.
As you can see, there are many factors that come into play when you decide to pick the church to join and attend regularly. This decision will shape the rest of your life and play a huge part in positioning you for your place in eternity!
The good news is God has already made the decision for you – you just have to connect with God, ask Him (the bible says you have not because you ask not; James 4:2) and he’ll tell you what church He has picked out for you. This goes beyond the physical feeling and will impact your life in remarkable ways!
Why should you go to church? You should go to church because you want the best for you and the best for your family in this life and the next! And isn’t that what we all want?

The Power of Forgiveness!
People don’t seem to really understand forgiveness, its true meaning or its power. There is great power available in the art of forgiveness, but let’s start with your definition. For some reason, we believe that forgiveness means “it was okay” what was done to us. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Forgiveness is simply the process of allowing yourself to let go of and release all the negative feelings of anger, bitterness and resentment, toward someone for any and all offenses, flaws or mistakes that they have made against you. I know this is easier said than done. People are capable of some horrifying things! Keep reading and you’ll see how important it is that you engage in this process.
In order to help this process along, an assessment of the situation has to be done with our greatest helper the Holy Spirit. Questions like the following need to be answered: What the heck just happened?; Why didn’t I see it coming?; Did I play a part in this?; Could I have prevented it? Why did this happen to me?
Satan really does a lot of things to hurt children because they’re too young to defend themselves and they are incapable of mentally and emotionally assessing their situations and circumstances. Additionally, they have no power or control over these situations. This makes children easy prey for Satan. For those who have been abused in any form as children, professional and spiritual help are necessary to guide and direct in this forgiveness process.
However, there are a lot of things that happen that can be prevented. Most people have to learn to fully use the Holy Spirit because He can see attacks coming at us that we can’t see for ourselves. For example; you know the way to go to work, you go the same way every day without giving it much thought. For reasons all your own, you decided that that’s the best way to go and you go that way every day. So what happens when Satan plans an attack against you on your way to work? He knows your routine as well as you. If you use the Holy Spirit as your help, you would talk to him every morning about the way you go to work, asking him if it would be okay to take the route you normally take or if you should take another route. This gives the Holy Spirit an opportunity to help you avoid an attack. The Holy Spirit and I review my calendar in advance. I ask Him for the best day and times to do the things I have to do. I also ask Him for the best route to get somewhere to avoid accidents, traffic and any other problems. I ask the Holy Spirit for help for everything I have to do in my life. I ask him to help remind me of things, I even ask His help in what clothes to wear! I really do, I understand that He’s my help and I try to take the best advantage of it that I can. This process is very effective in avoiding attacks and staying safe.
However, even with all of this, Satan’s attacks sometimes get in. And to make matters worse, when these attacks hit our lives, they sometimes come through the people closest to us. The people that we think should love us and protect us are the very ones who betray us! That’s why I also ask the Holy Spirit about everyone in my life and the reason they are there. But if you live long enough you will be betrayed, let down, disappointed and hurt by someone close to you. It’s bad enough to be hurt by a stranger, but it’s 1000 times worse when you are hurt by someone you love and who you thought loved you!
The Bible has told us that weapons will be formed against us but none will defeat us or destroy us, but how can that possibly be? The answer to that question is actually simple, but you may think I’m a little crazy when I tell you. But here goes, the act of forgiveness is how the attack can’t defeat us!
Let’s break it down and talk about it. When someone hurts us demons are there to release all kinds of negative thought responses that release feelings of hurt, resentment, anger, pain, disappointment, shock, etc. in the same moment, we accept these thoughts and feelings as a true way to react to the offense. But what would happen if you rejected those thoughts and feelings and turned to God and asked Him for help and direction? That’s not how we normally respond right? Shouldn’t it be?
I know that concept is hard to comprehend, but if we never let those negative feelings in, then we never have to deal with them and the damage and destruction that they cause. Just in case this doesn’t make sense to you (it didn’t make since to me at first either) let’s look at it another way.
Look around at all the people you know in your life. Don’t you know someone who is never happy and has no joy? Everything they have to say is negative and according to them nothing good ever happens to them. Do you like being around them? You cringe when they come in the room, don’t you? Do you want to end up like them? Even science has proven that bitterness and anger cause various sicknesses and diseases and even blocks the body’s ability to heal. So you have a choice to make.
As I know you’ve already figured out by now, one of Satan’s tactics is that he uses his attacks against you to invade you with all these negative demons via reactions to an offense. When you’re not quick to forgive, the negative seeds that have been deposited in you take root and grow. And little by little, over time, these negative demons have taken control over you. It happens so subtly that you don’t even notice it at first. But those around you notice quickly. These demons of bitterness and resentment repel people from your life, leaving you alone as they destroy you from the inside out.
This is why the act of forgiving is so powerful! The act of forgiving rejects those negative demons and spirits and the feelings that bring. The act of forgiving makes you turn toward God for His help. You can’t do this without God’s help. And together you and God can work to keep the negative seeds from rooting inside of you as you & God process what happened to you. Then you and God will develop strategies to make sure this doesn’t happen to you again and if the demons try you again, cause they will, you’ll be ready. This process of you and God working together changes you from being a victim to being victorious!
In addition to this, you have to forgive in order to receive forgiveness. Remember the whole sowing and reaping thing? Now keep in mind that you were not perfect either. You are going to make mistakes and you’re going to hurt and disappoint people too. You’ve probably already done it. You too will need someone to forgive you.
Remember the Lord’s Prayer? You can check it out in Matthew 6:12. There is a part of the Lord’s Prayer in which we are asking God to forgive our sins and mistakes. Our being forgiven by God requires us to sow the seed of forgiveness first! We are forgiven to the degree that we can forgive others. I know we don’t like a part but we have to accept it.
I know I did not like that part when I realize the reality of what God was asking me to do. God knows we would not freely forgive someone who hurt us, even though we hurt other people, so He set us up to be free as He loves us so much. When people hurt us we want revenge, but when we hurt others we want mercy, right? LOL. He saves us from ourselves because he knew how harshly we judge others and how lightly we judge ourselves. So as a way to protect us, God made giving forgiveness the requirement to getting forgiveness. Remember that sowing and reaping thing? Do you get it now? You know people can dish it out but can they really take it? Truth be told the answer is “no.”
Forgiving doesn’t make you a doormat and the recipient of bad treatment. It doesn’t mean you have to have people who mistreat you in your life. You don’t have to accept abuse of any kind from anyone, and you shouldn’t. You can cut off those people and remove them from your life. God wants you safe from harm. Cut off all the suckers in your life and after you do that, release yourself from all those negative demons and spirits that came with them. This re-positions you into the place of power and true forgiveness!

Spring is Here…..But Are You Blooming?
Now that the weather is changing and spring is here, the flowers are blooming but are you blooming too?
During the winter when the temperature is cold animals hibernate and we kinda do too. During this time there is a lot less movement. During the winter since everything slows down nature is taking the time to reset and regroup. It’s the same with people. The cold deters people from getting out as much and when they are outside they don’t stay out any longer than they have to.
But as soon as it looks like the weather is breaking and its warm outside, even if it’s only for one day, people just like nature spring into bloom. You’ve seen it! On the first warm day folks run outside having shed their winter coats and clothes and run half naked in the streets. We laugh at them for that because those of us who are smart know that winter may not be finished yet.
However, the first sign of spring sparks a fire inside of all of us just like it does with the flowers and the animals. But spring is very revealing. We know that the seeds of our winter will be evident in our spring blooming.
So, the year’s half over. What does you’re blooming show us you’ve been doing all winter? Didn’t you make resolutions at the beginning a year? How many have you kept? How successful has your year been so far? What areas still need work?
This is the time to take and make honest assessments about where you are and how you got here! You still have time to reach all of the goals that you had set for yourself in the beginning of the year. Today is the first day of the rest of your life – starting right now!
Come on! Let’s press forward with purpose on purpose!
Even if things have not gone exactly the way you wanted them to go (isn’t that most of us) God’s word and promises to us have to manifest and show up and I lives. Just read this: Isaiah 55:11 (cev) “that’s how it is with my words. They don’t return to me without doing everything I send them to do.”
No matter if you’ve gotten way off track, God is still proud of you and God still believes in you because He made you on purpose and knows you can do everything He sent you to earth to do! Can you believe in yourself like God believes in you? Never listen to and believe Satan and his demons of doubt, fear, unbelief and uncertainty and the lies they want you to fall for. Always believed God over anything any demon ever says to you. It’s time for you to bloom and bloom well!
You + God = Victory in All Things!
Those of you who have been doing well this year and are still on track and even those who are just a little off track, this is a good time to do some tweaking. Take this time to look at what’s good about what you’re doing and how you’re doing it and ask the Holy Spirit to help you make it great! Then look at what hasn’t been so good, and the part you’ve played in that, and ask the Holy Spirit for assistance in changing those bad things, replacing them with good things.
No matter what position you find yourself in today – good or bad, Amos 9:13 – 15 (msg) has to be our goal, our daily life goal! Here’s what it says: “Yes indeed, it won’t be long now.” God’s Decree. “Things are going to happen so fast your head will swim, one thing fast on the heels of the other. You won’t be able to keep up. Everything will be happening at once—and everywhere you look, blessings! Blessings like wine pouring off the mountains and hills…Don’t you want to know what that feels like? Don’t you want to have a life where all of your dreams are coming true at the same time? I know I do!
Your life should be the perfect living example of the promises that God has outlined for us in His Word. We get that way over time. We get that way by blooming; blooming well in every season. Just like flowers, we are beautiful and show God’s goodness and His faithfulness.
Philippians 4:13 (amp) says: I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who [a]infuses inner strength into me; I am [b]self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency]. So remember, You + God = an unstoppable force that was made to overcome anything and everything as you reach full bloom!

The Art of Being A Better You!
Isn’t that our goal in life; to be a better you? Don’t we try everyday to be better today than we were the day before? If that isn’t the goal, shouldn’t it be?
As we enter into this year’s Resurrection season, it’s a great time to evaluate & take a look at what being connected to God is really bringing to your life. Can you measure the positive change & progression in your daily life? Why be & promote Christianity if we don’t know its benefits to us? What has it done for you lately, lol?
We’ve all heard & seen the story of Jesus’ Resurrection so you can google the details of His crucifixion to see how horrible that it was & the proof that it really did happen so I don’t want to get into that right now. Once I got those details for myself I wondered how I could honor what Jesus did for me on Calvary in my own life. I didn’t know another person who would have done that for me, let alone for the world! It really made me want to be a better person so Jesus could be as proud of me as I was of Him.
So, in order to honor Jesus, I needed to know Him a little bit better, because the stories I’d heard about Him in church sounded real nice but like most people, I needed to know if this is “real” or not. And if it is real, what does it mean for me? So I researched more about Jesus, I talked to God about Him a little more, asking a lot of questions. As the answers I sought started coming to me, I had to test them for myself because they did not make sense to my natural mind. So I put what I was learning & what God was telling me to the test – Romans 12:2 (amp) tests; Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
As you can see from the scripture above, the world will try to shape everything about you but you can’t let it. By the time you get to even learn that Romans 12:2 exists you’ll see that the world has a bit of a head start on you. You’ve already been shaped by your experiences here on earth. So you see the need to be re-shaped by God. The scripture also tells us why we need this transformation.
Let me tell you how I got started. Every opinion I had accepted as my own, I now held up to God for Jesus’ review. Then I simply let go of mine & replaced it with His; one by one, situation by situation, one life issue at a time. It wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be because the roots of my opinions were much deeper that I thought they were & the process of replacing them even with God’s help was very painful at times because I had built my entire life on these opinions. Everything I had built on these incorrect opinions had to be torn down so the foundations could be blown up. Then with God’s help I had to relay the foundations & rebuild my life structures. Of course this is the very short version because I in some areas this process took years but in other areas it didn’t take long at all. It really depended on how deep the roots were & what they had wrapped themselves around. You don’t what to tear up the good as you pull out the bad! If you want more details about this process holla at me via our contact form.
I’m not sure what motivates you, but I was committed to seeing if this process worked because I’m a Mom & I needed to be able to give my children the truth, not some religious church cult garbage! The second reason I stayed on course is because most of it I really didn’t believe. Remember I said earlier that it didn’t make sense to my natural mind so I started off just trying to prove God wrong. I was so wrong that I still laugh about it til this day but God didn’t care what I used to get started He knew He was right even when I didn’t. God was just glad I made it back to Him & He feels the same way about you too!
After 20+ years of working this process (yes, you will work it for the length of your earthly life) the results are really simple. Like I said before, God was right & I was wrong, no surprise there right? But what were the benefits? The answer is also simple – submitting to this process returns us to the being God originally created us to be before we entered into our earth suits. As we shed our carnal thinking & replace it with God’s thinking I got better & better. The fruit of the spirit began to grow inside of me & I could use it at will as I walk through my life to completing my earthly assignments.
OK, OK. I hear you asking “how”? Here’s the short version. Satan is real too & there are many demonic factors that come into play once you enter this earth realm. These demons have been assigned to take you out & keep you from completing your assignments. Additional demons come into your life by your own personal sin. God being well aware of all of this provided us with a way out – Romans 12:2.
Just saying you’re a Christian is not enough – it’s only the beginning. You have to submit to the Romans 12:2 processing. This processing brings liberation & freedom from every demon that has attached itself to you. Liberation brings clarity & power & makes your assignment & purpose crystal clear like never before. It also brings direction & resources to save your life first so you can save additional lives that you touch later. Then you will make their lives better & better.
This process guarantees victory in everything you do. This process makes you better & better, one situation & circumstance at a time. I know you’re wondering how to get started so here’s how. Start by just talking to God about how to start. Set it up like any other appointment or meeting. Check with God for the best time & day to start. Put it on your calendar. Come prepared by bringing a list of any questions you may have, a hard back book to take good detailed notes & a few good pens. Sit down in a comfortable, quiet place & just start talking. Make time to listen, stay focused (don’t allow distracting thoughts in), write down what He tells you to do. Remember to ask God to help you complete all tasks He gives you. That will surely make things easier. Do not attempt to do this in your own strength; you will fail if you do. God has already prepared people to help you but let God lead you to them. You only want the help God sends. If you have any electronic savvy, you can also record the conversations. Mark my words you will be better & better! Your life will be brighter & brighter!
Then every day, just do what God says for you to do, the way He tells you to do it, when He tells you to do it – all with His direction & help!
Soon you will be able to measure how much better you are inside & then you life will get better on the outside. Even on bad days you will still be able to see how much better you & your life has become. So I challenge you to get started today. Keep in touch with me to let me know how it’s going for you. I know your testimonies will be better & better! Be determined to be a better you!
