Are demons real? If you are truly not sure just take a look in the mirror. Yes, there is a such thing as the “mirror test”.  If you’ve never done the mirror test, just read this before you run to your nearest mirror.  First things first, I’ll swing back to it before I’m done.  Let’s answer the demon question – yes, demons are real you encounter them in your daily life.  That makes Satan real too!  The bible talks about demons in many places in the bible. But I want to talk about how you deal with the demons in your life.

Now we all know that demons used to exist in Biblical times and days but what about now?  Let me give you a new rule of thumb – if it used to happen, then it’s probably still happening.  In most cases its true.  The demons ruled by Satan are still in full effect right now today.  If you don’t believe me, turn on your local news and watch every day for about a week and come back and tell me what you saw.  Just like me, you will see a world that is following Satan so for away from the ways of God that is seems light evil is winning.  While you’re at it, search your cable listings for the “Investigative Discovery” channel or for a show call “Forensic Files” so you can see some of the most horrendous cases of human beings doing all kinds of evil things to other human beings.  No one can hate like that without some kind of supernatural help and influence!   Check out 1 Timothy 4:1 (amp) –  But the [Holy] Spirit explicitly and unmistakably declares that in later times some will turn away from the faith, paying attention instead to deceitful and seductive spirits and doctrines of demons…, and with that being said who & what’s influencing you?  We’ll come back to that question?

The majority of Christians today are completely ignorant when it comes down to how demon spirits operate. The demon named” fear” has run an effective campaign therefore we embrace fear when it comes to spirits, especially evil ones.  This is simply because we fear what we don’t know or understand.  2 Corinthians 4:4 (cev) tells us ⁴ The god who rules this world has blinded the minds of unbelievers. They cannot see the light, which is the good news about our glorious Christ, who shows what God is like.  So, let me give you the facts so we can lay a proper foundation.  This way you can free yourself from fear and all other demon influence.  Thus moving you into your proper position as a powerful partner with God!

Satan and spirits working for him are real. God talks about Satan in Ezekiel 28:14-16 (nkjv) – You were an anointed guardian cherub. I placed you;^[a] you were on the holy mountain of God; in the midst of the stones of fire you walked.  ¹⁵ You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created, till unrighteousness was found in you.  ¹⁶ In the abundance of your trade you were filled with violence in your midst, and you sinned; so I cast you as a profane thing from the mountain of God, and I destroyed you,^[b] O guardian cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.  Every human being born into this realm was sent by God.  God has given you His word and sent help via the Holy Spirit to make sure you fulfill your divine purpose on this planet.  Satan is trying to make sure that never happens! So, you will either side with God in order to fulfill your purpose on the planet or you will side for Satan and work against God!  There are only two teams in this war & before your life on earth ends you will chose a team.

If you’re a Christian are you exempt from all of this demon stuff?  Of course not, sorry, you are as demonically oppressed or influenced as everybody else.  However you do have an out and help getting there.  Here is some info you need to help you understand.  This is a very simplified version but this will get you started in your conversations with God.

Just like God has three parts – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, so do you.  You are a spirit, who lives in a body/flesh (the suit you need in this realm), who possesses a soul (your personality).  All of these three function separately but look like they are operating together as one unit.  I like to look at these three parts as a box.  Each box has “stuff” or “spirits” living in them that try to influence us to their way of thinking.

Here is some helpful info about the three boxes:

Flesh Box – this is where most of your rooted demons live.  They gained entry into you via sin: either your sin, the sin of your family, or the sin of others.  Most likely it’s the combination of all of these.  Once inside they apply pressure on you to influence, oppress, depress and possess you.  They are always talking, trying to talk you into doing things related to carnal living.  For example, how many times have you made plans to start something you know is good for you like working out, but then here comes this “voice” saying stuff like “you can start tomorrow” or “I don’t feel like it” or “You can do it later”.  Sounds familiar right?  And how many times have you given into “the voice” when you know it’s not the right thing for you to do?  Whose voice was that anyway?  Do you even know?  You know it wasn’t “your voice” because you had already decided what you were going to do.  Maybe you know some of them by your personal experience – Pride lives here, so does rejection, abandonment, etc.  The spirit of selfishness lives here too.  These are just a few of the demons you might know by name but there are many others.

Soul Box – this is where the spirits (that gain access to you) from the reactions to your flesh choices live.  These spirits form your personality.  They influence the way you think, the way you react, and how you react.  This is where the spirit of shyness can live if your experiences have shown you that you don’t have a voice. The spirit of boldness can live here if you’ve been hurt before and you’re determined not to let that happen again.  The spirit of peace can live here if you’ve connected to God and your healing process has begun. All of these spirits and their influence can make up your personality.  If you choose a flesh led life your soul will probably be unhappy and unfulfilled.  However if you live a spirit led life then your soul is happy because it is able to heal as it grows and matures.

Spirit Box – this is where the” you” God made lives.  The spirits that result from connecting & obeying God live here too.  In addition, when you become a Christian the Holy Spirit moves in too.  It then becomes your responsibility to connect with the Holy Spirit in order to form a partnership that will direct you into the fulfillment of your purpose on earth!

Now, someone has to manage all of these moving parts!  Someone has to be the one making the decisions for the whole.  That someone is supposed to be you & God working together but is it really?  Try this – Stop your day, sit down with pen & paper so you can do a full review of your life choices.  Are you living the life you dreamed for yourself?  What’s missing?  Which of your three boxes is the biggest because it gets most of your attention?  Who are you alliances? If your spirit box is not the largest box, you still have a ways to go.  One of the best tools to help you free yourself from every demon currently holding you back is Joyce Meyer’s Battlefield of the Mind book and training.  This renewing of your mind process takes determination, perseverance & time.  This has to become a way of spiritual living while on earth.

Now that you’ve read this far I’ll tell you about the mirror test.  Carry a small mirror with you and when you find yourself acting a fool, pull out the mirror and look at the face looking back at you.  Is that you or is it someone else?  You’ll see that you are not in this game alone.

If you are willing to dig more into this process, regularly sit down with God connecting with Him discussing what you’ve read today and what you learned since then.  Let the Holy Spirit speak to you and you hear Him like you’ve never heard him before.  He has every answer you will ever need in this life.  Every answer!!!

So, now you’ll be able to see that demons are real and operating against you every day!  But if you are a Christian like me you know our God is real too!  And the power in our God is greater than any power of any demon.  I believe what says 1 John 4:4 (cev) – Children, you belong to God, and you have defeated these enemies. God’s Spirit^[a] is in you and is more powerful than the one that is in the world.

So as you stay connected to & obey Him, when you look into any mirror you will only see God’s power in you!
